Apologies for the late update; the office was experiencing technical difficulties with their internet connection. You really get to appreciate cable internet back in Melbourne when you're in this part of Australia...
Monday in Camp Gan Yisroel saw a delayed wake-up for the
Primary Division, after having arriving back from yesterday's amazing Aquatic
Centre trip long after the regular lights out. Campers continued enjoying the
activities Coonawarra has to offer, including the Giant Swing and Rock
Climbing. The "My Day My Way" Program was revamped, with a new and
exciting "Mad Science" being offered by Mrs Miri Lipskier. With more
than 30 participants, the campers enjoyed watching how a hardboiled egg is
sucked into a bottle with a fire burning in it, as the fire attempts to draw in
more oxygen. The elective was so popular, it drew in some staff members, and
even some of the chaperones!
Towards the evening, a grand Night Hike Bonfire night
activity was announced. Led by a staff member, campers went for a half hour
hike as the sun set in on Coonawarra. Near the top of Coonawarra, campers sang
Camp Songs around a campfire, and enjoyed a limited supply of roasted
marshmallows. The evening ended with campers receiving a roller-coaster like
ride back to camp, followed by a rather late Maariv, and a prompt lights out.
